Two-point discrimination (2PD) is the ability to discern that two nearby objects touching the skin are truly two distinct points, not one. It is often tested with two sharp points during a neurological examination and is assumed to reflect how finely innervated an area of skin is.
The customer needed a new device that would fix the shortcomings of the devices on the market. Such as the lack of resistance and compactness.
To avoid component loss and improve resistance,
the tips have been designed as an extension of
the core body and the distance between them has
been engraved on the surface of the device.
The device body was made of aluminum by CNC
(Computerized Numerical Control).
This material is easy to work with, clean and has
more resistance to the most common disinfectants
than plastic materials.
The product name BAT-2PD takes up the similarity
between the 7mm tip and the Batman mask.
